In 2008, leaders from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation requested Waste Reduction Partners to assist the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians on an energy efficiency initiative across the Qualla Boundary. WRP engineers have recently completed 22 energy audits of tribal and community facilities. EBCI has utilized the audits and project lists in seeking implementation grant funding. "The improvements that will be made in buildings- from simple things to bigger measure - will have a snowball effect and benefit the whole community," states Bob Gilbreath, lead WRP engineer for the project. |
